  1. That's a good pick up with Tim Wakefield hurt, if he can't come back it'll be ok. Plus he was the Indians second best playoff pitcher last year and the Sox need playoff experience on the back end of their staff.

  2. Paul Byrd is nothing more than a journeyman pitcher.  He will not make that much of an impact as far as Boston is concerned.  He is a number 3 or 4 starter at best.  I have to think they got him cheap and as insurance in case someone goes down.  Don't expect the Red Sox to keep him past this season.

  3. As an Indians fan, I liked what he contributed to the ballclub last year but it's time for him to go. We have a viable replacement in Anthony Reyes, plus it clears up $7 million in payroll. The Indians will want to see what they can get out of some minor league pitchers such as Dave Huff and Zach Jackson.

  4. wow, this is the first ive heard of it, to me it makes little sense for the red sox, they already have up and coming pitchers like masterson,  but it does make sense for cleveland, the fire sale is now complete

  5. Adding a veteran for the playoff run always helps. I think it's a good pickup for the Red Sox and makes sure they don't take a step back with loss of Wakefield. They have some young pitchers but this gives the Sox some options and they can keep the young arms in reserve while they gain some experience. Remember how those bugs rattled Joba last year, it's risky throwing young kids in the playoffs.

  6. Probably about as useful as Bartolo Colon. But if they can get some kind of production out of one of them at any point, it can't hurt. I think it's a fair move to make and hope that it works out for them.

  7. Its a good move for the Sox, with Wake out there is a big hole in the rotation that can be filled with Byrd, if Wake is able to come back one of them can go to the bullpen for middle relief which right now is really needed in Boston.

  8. Your right that will add depth to the pitching core. I just hope he doesnt f up.

  9. as a Yanks fan i gotta hope it doesnt work out for them but I think Paul Byrd is a good guy to acquire for playoffs he is an veteran who knows how to handle the pressure and he is on fire his last 4 starts

  10. ya that will help the sox because paul byrd is SOOO GOOODD!!! lol

  11. Yes, Byrd is the word in the nation.

  12. I think he's going to do great especially with Wakefield on the DL.

  13. I think its a good deal. He's a decent pitcher who can help them in case someone goes down. He has some playoff experience and its a good way for the Red Sox to continue their pursuit towards the playoffs.

  14. The Red Sox are collecting too many pitchers.
