I got mine because I was homeschooled and will be going to a university with it. But what do you think when you hear someone has a GED? What the first thing that pops in your head?

  1. I also was homeschooled and got my GED before I went to college. When I hear that someone has a GED, I wonder if they were homeschooled or didn't finish high school. I don't see it as a stigma because there are many reasons why someone couldn't get a regular high school diploma.

  2. That I was stupid, But thats wrong

Could not finish high school . I wanted to go to work and be on my own !

    I have a G.E.D. also

But some people think I was not smart enough to finish High school """WRONG

They are wrong because I never went to 10th ,11th or 12 grade But I passed their tests

so I say I was smarter then them . right

Don't let no one put you down for having a G.E.D. ,,

  3. Once you've completed your University education no one will care what kind of high school diploma you have, and University admissions officers will know your full circumstances and judge you on the whole record. Most people know that all kinds of people get GEDs for all kinds of reasons - just like most people know that some regular high school graduates are intelligent people who've worked hard and others have sat in a chair for four years but can barely read.

  4. Depends on their age.  If it's an older person (as in, over 60), I don't think anything about it. My dad got his when he was over 30 because he had to drop out of school in the 7th grade to help out at home. That was normal back then.

If it's someone younger, I'd first think that the person had trouble in school. What type of trouble?  I don't really have any "first ideas" on that. Just "at least he put forth the effort to get one."
