Wests Tigerz, Canterbury and South Sydney have ANZ Stadium as their home ground.

I even heard that Parramatta may move there for a few home games.

When Leichhardt & Campbelltown are refurbished, Tigerz should leave ANZ Stadium.

  1. Also forgot to mention the Dragons are there this year, but it's disgusting and it's ripping the soul out of the game, how we had heritage round games played at ANZ i'll never know. Bulldogs home ground should be the Sydney Showgrounds were they always got packed houses, Souths should send all their money not on armarmi suits but on getting Redferon Ocal back in NRL playin conditions, or at the very least play at the SFS, Parramatta have their own stadium, and there going there, that's just stupid, Dragons are getting Kograh done up so I can see why the need a stadium for their Sydney homes games, and you mentioned Wests.

All this shows that these team owners & CEO's are just greedy, as playing there gives the club ALOT more $$$$ at the end of the year.

  2. I have watched many games at Leichardt and think it is great - standing on the hill with a beer and a friends. Luckily we could walk to and from the match as the car parking traffic jam was terrible.

Anyway - Tigers play 1/2 there home games at Leichhardt/Campbelltown. Usually three a year at Leichardt.

Unfortunately these things are often "business" decisions. Places like ANZ have catering contracts that would stipulate a certain amount of events need to be held there, so they offer "incentives" on top of gate takings to go there. Teams that are financially strapped - like Tigers at the moment - need all the money they get.

Have to admit - when Canterbury played out of the Homebush Olympic Stadium - with 80,000+ capacity, and they would get a crowd of 8,000 - that was a terrible atmosphere. Just looked so empty and made you feel you were watching a park game, with the amount of open spaces. But 18,000 crammed to the rafters at Leichhardt - thats great.

  3. they shud ask money from the govt (they have apparantly) and renovate their stadium, broncos, titans and the cowboys have good support because they stick to 1 stadium, good quality, comfortable stadiums unlike sittin on wet grass and brookvale

though when canterbury are at the top of the table they average 18,000+(2004/2005/2006)

  4. not only overused but the worst stadium i have ever watched league, does not matter where you sit you need field glasses.

  5. i think its terrible

its so demoralising when they have highlights on tv and all you can see is empty seats behind them.

and yes parra is also moving a few games there, another example of club pride from our money grubbing corporate bastar d   ceo dennis fitzgerald

  6. I agree, ANZ is becoming a bit generic would you say? I like the idea of every club having a true home ground...like the fortress at Brookie and old Marathon (EAS) at Newcastle. Tigers should definately play more games at Leichhhardt and Campbelltown (and send the Bulldogs back to Belmore and the Bunnies to Redfern lolol)...there's just something more when teams play at their own ground.

Yes, kick everyone out (lol) and use ANZ for the GF because one major problem with ANZ stadium is that for any normal, club game, the NRL just aren't pulling crowds large enough to get anywhere near full capacity there. What is it? 60 000 or so? Even in QLD, a 40 000 crowd is hard to come by. Having only 20 000 or so in a stadium so big (kind of) ruins the intensity and it's nowhere near as good to watch with empty seats everywhere.

  7. Yes. Follow QLD and have their own homeground

Dragons: well, refurnished Kogarah so that is understandable.

Eels: Don't move, they don't even fill Parramatta Stadium.

Bulldogs: Go back to Sydney Showground

Rabbitohs: SFS. 3 letters. Or Redfern, but it is in a hostile neighbourhood.

Tigers: Stay at the 2 stadiums of Campbelltown and Leichardt.

The smoking in pokies area is the reason why they are so poor?? im not sure. Anywayz, the gov should help em out if they are strapped for cash. I would have for one of them to file for bankruptcy.

Only use ANZ for all Sydney Finals. eg. Bulldogs vs. Roosters, the Grand Final and some representative games. Also use it for State of Origin.

  8. It does take away the atmosphere of the game with a stadium filled by 10% capacity all the time. If they do keep it they should kick the Bulldogs and Tigers out and tell them to find their own grounds, sure there are plenty in Sydeny and keep it as a Rabbitohs exclusive ground.

  9. the stadium is not the best to watch a games but the whole problem with nrl and the attitude supporter have about playing on small suburban grounds

the afl closed suburban grounds 20 years ago and all teams play at mcg and telstra dome to crowds of 30 to 40000 every game

if all nrl- Sydney teams played at ANZ and SFS within 10 years they would be attracting 30000 plus every game

as fans and family would chose comfort  under cover seating and modern facilities compared to standing on a hill in the rain

its a great idea the nrl is 20 years behind the afl

  10. I think it's a good choice for them ? ? ? ? ?

  11. It wouldn't be that good, because 16 teams in one stadium wouldn't make the area for traning alot.
