  1. carry on!!! great!! whoopy!!! people are started to do something about the world even though they on the other side. (excuse the pun)

  2. its a great idea, pretty soon you would get used to it. in south africa, they semi banned plastic bags, by charging for them which incourages people to bring along their own carrier bags (recycling) and some entrepenuers strated making sturdy reuseable bags, which they sold at supermarket counters, which encouraged ppl to bring them along every time you went shopping. or if you forgot you could buy a plasic bag..... even so it decreased the amount of plastic bags by a huge amount

  3. Good idea. They should do it here.

    Go Australia!

  4. Only if you can work the same magic in the US.

  5. wonderful idea, I wish the US would go that route.

  6. In Ireland if you want a plastic bag at the shops and supermarkets you have to buy them.I think they're about 17cents.Most folk use shopping bags now and certainly in the country it has resulted in the place being a lot tidier,no plastic bags strewn everywhere.

Ireland is really quite a progressive country. We had the no smoking ban first and regular lightbulbs are set to go soon too.Come on you lot, catch up.

  7. Silly idea...the plastic bags were to help eliminate the need for paper bags to save trees...no they want to eliminate them? So they try and get people to use cloth bags....how much chemical waste will be dumped to make them?

  8. They'll be sorry when it rains.

  9. Excellent notion.

My local convenience shop tries to put everything in one of their plastic bags, no matter that it might only be one small item.

Last night I had to stop them putting a pack of cigarette papers in one, before I told them it was OK, I could honestly manage without!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. It will lead to a population explosion amongst the aborigines.

  11. I feel very happy about it and hope that the rest of the world will follow suit!

  12. Good idea.  Isn't fuel used in the making of plastics?  We should get rid of all the crappy plastic things that we do not need to live.   Go back to using actual dishes.  All those throw away plastic containers cannot be good for the environment.  That should reduce the fuel costs big time.  However, what to do about the use of trees in the making of paper bags?  Reusable bags not made out of paper or plastic?

I heard that in Ireland in 2009, they will have banned all regular light bulbs.  Checking to see if this is true or not. It was in my monthly Ireland Newspaper.

  13. First of all, most plastic bags are really made up of corn fiber by products. Two, I recycle the bags as trash bags, so what would I have to do, buy garbage bags?.  See how stupid this really is.

  14. Good idea but I'm afraid of all the ∽ǂ⊷⊢ that my dog produces. Perhaps I should start making newspaper cones now ???

  15. Very sensible. Some supermarkets here in the UK seem like they can't give you enough plastic bags. They should be banned.

  16. Great idea...............All bags should go.

Why don't we just take a basket, same as a laundry basket, pop it in the car, wheel the trolley out & just put all the groceries in the basket.

Carry the whole lot inside when you get home.

    Easy!!!

For people who are walking & only buying a few things, just have 2 regular bags, like my Granny used to.

  17. Plastic bags should be banned EVERYWHERE. It hasn't caused a problem in Ireland, it won't cause a problem in Australia and it should be introduced in the UK. And soon.
