How do you feel about people that get put to death but come to find out they are innocent?

My feeling is that everyone that had something to do with the case should receive the same treatment. You have innocent people that sit in jail for years and if they are found innocent 12-14 yrs later they give you some money and send you on your way. BS I think they all should go through the same thing that person did for the same amount of time. Families are wrecked not only did the victim family suffer once but now they must suffer again being that their crime has not been solved be it has now caused a new victim.

This causes pain for everyone.  Take a look at the list of the 129 people who were exonerated after serving an average of 9.5 years on death row.  Very few have received any compensation.  In a great many, it is hard to believe that prosecutors acted in good faith.  

What many people don't realize is that DNA evidence is rarely available. DNA is taken from fewer than 10% of all homicide scenes.  Of the 129 people I mentioned, just 16 were exonerated with DNA.  

Considering that no system created by human beings can be error free, why would we want to perpetuate a punishment which is irreversible.

I try not to worry about things that happen so very rarely in a system that is hard to make perfect.  The deterrent effect of executing innocent convicts is probably about the same as executing a guilty one.

There is a difference, the prosecution acted in good faith. If lies were told or there was misbehavior, then people should be prosecuted. If new evidence was found or a confession was made by someone else, it is not the fault of prosecution. Had they been in possession of the knowledge, they would never arrested the person.

By in large, the prosecutors have no grudge or vendetta to carry out. All they know is what is presented as facts to them and the judge can only act on what is presented in court.

Our system is imperfect and mistakes are made. However, it is not because there was not an attempt at trying to get at the truth of the matter. Due diligence is hard to have when a person is guaranteed a quick and speedy trial.  Frequently the prosecution has to act with what they have at the time.

DNA has thrown a wrench into a lot of convictions. More technology will both help and hinder in good convictions.  But the rules are getting stricter and investigations are getting more accurate. One day perhaps, there will be no wrong convictions.

The Prosecutor and everyone that lied should received the Death Penalty. Anyone honest officer in Law Enforcement who whistle-blows has their career ruined for wanting to seek justice.

It happens more often than people like to think.

I think the death sentence should only be given when DNA, evidence is left behind, or there's video surveillance of it.
