After the 11 tribes Israel slaughter all the Benjamite women, there's a section where they made up this curse that no one should let their daughters marry a Benjamite, then they make up a work-around that they start kidnapping women for their wives. Just virgins, though. Anybody else, they kill. That's kind of a rough summary, but is that the gist?

  1. I never knew of that. I couldnt get over Lot, and what he was willing to do with his daughters. Its horrid. I think the Bible was written by man, based on old scrolls, and things seem rather "cut and thrust" in the writing.

As a woman, I find what they did, shocking.

But look what men do now to women. mankind, hasnt changed and they were men just like men now... Just because its in the Bible, doesnt mean its right what they did. No one would say that, not even a fundamentalist Christian... I hope.

(Not all men are violent raping pigs, I know!!! )

  2. in a nut shell, yes.

  3. It is, to say the least, a very interesting book to read. But in broader perspective it is essentially the story of a deteriorating nation. The principle that always meant defeat in the lives of the nation of Israel is given to us in the very last verse of the book. If you miss that, you miss the key to the book:

In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes. (Judges 21:25)

  4. Portions of the bible is full of slaughtering which they attribute to God. But believe you me , God is non violent and would never ever authorise people to be killed in His name.

  5. The explanation for most of the things that happen in the book of Judges is found at the end.

Judges 21:25  In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
