Plumb Island is a real island where the Government has done research on DEADLY, and HIGHLY CONTAGEOUS livestock diseases for years.

Now the Government wants to move this facility to the continenal U.S. Georgia, Kansas, and Long Island are all in the running to have this facility built on their ground. They will be testing diseases like hoof & mouth on living animals.

Human hospitals cannot even control the spread of flesh eating bacterias. Eventually disesase always escapes from the type of facilities.

How do you feel about the lab being built on the mainland, and the possible devistation of the Nations ENTIRE livestock supply ?

  1. That is totally scary. What are they thinking? Are they playing  God or something? Do they think that they are "above" human error? How naive! Hoof and mouth has been eradicated in the US at a great expense to the American farmer, so many animals were slaughtered in the process of that eradication.... The American livestock industry will suffer tremendously if any of these deseases get out, especially the livestock export business. Job will be lost, farmers will go under... Why in the world would the government take a chance that we might have to go through eradication again? Are they crazy?

Where can we get more info on this? Please post the link you found it on..... I'll definitely write my congressman, and local Representatives about my total objection to having this happen.

  2. my state is not listed above, so I'm cool.

  3. I believe the only disease researched there is foot and mouth disease, which while highly contagious among certain animals, is not actually deadly.  It is an economic disease in that infected animals do not prosper and cannot be used for their intended purpose.  Because of the economic impact on commercial animals, infected animals are usually destroyed to prevent the spread of the disease.

It does not infect humans, or many types of animals.
