Sources tell TSN the Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Rangers have completed a trade. The Rangers will get Nikolai Zherdev and Dan Fritsche, with Fedor Tyutin and Christian Backman going to Columbus.

  1. im happy about it cuz im a devils fan.  Tyutin was good and backman was decent.  Zherdev was a problem in columbus even though he is good he is cancer in the locker room (just what ive heard).  I dont even know who fristsche is...  Zherdev might click with gomez but i dont know i think on paper the rangers lost.  tyutin was young and good.

  2. We'll see, however it looks like Columbus is making a push to be a possible playoff team next year. I liked Zherdev. Looks like a pretty even trade.

  3. you know only time would tell i mean you dont know how good a player is until you see them play and can make a change n one game for ex. radim vrbata he went ffrom really good to a 16 no goal streak

  4. I was reading the articles about it, and came across this: "Tyutin, who turns 25 later this month, adds a puck-moving blue-liner who can help Columbus’ power play..." and immediately began wondering when Tyutin became a puck moving defenseman. Don't they know the Rangers have been inept in that department? And haven't they seen how bad our PP has been the past few years?

I really like Tyutin though, I'll be sad to see him go. Backman we just acquired at the deadline last year, but he gave the puck away waaay too much.  He was not so good, and I won't mind seeing him in another sweater.

Hopefully Zherdev can get an attitude adjustment, or this will be one awful trade. I mean... how many defensemen do the Rangers have now? 4?

While losing Tyutin definitely sucks, we desperately need wingers and Zherdev is pretty good.  Hopefully he fits in, and is beneficial to us.  With the new acquisition of Redden, I see our defense as improving no matter what, but I would love to get a big hard-hitting stay at home guy.  Plus, I heard one or two people will be ready to come up from hartford, so hopefully it's not a big deal.

I think it's a good trade... the Rangers get a much needed talented winger, and the Jackets get a solid defenseman in Tyutin.  Fritsche is better than Backman.
