And last what are your feelings on tribute bands? should they be more original and make their own music or is it a compliment to the band that someone want to pay tribute to them??

bands that will be at this tribute fest include -livewire (ac/dc)-B-Streets (bruce springstein) - draw the line (aerosmith) - brother peach (allman bros) - One Sweet World (dave matthews band) etc, etc, etc

  1. funny you asked....I like many tribute bands , but I was just looking at some Youtube clips of MiniKiss today and they are the worst bag of c**p that ever made a dollar imitating someone else

  2. Im actually starting a tribute band For Operation Ivy. That band is my all time favorite and disappoints me that i cant see them. But me and my bros are going to make a band in tribute to them. its a great thing to do. Music is inside of all of us we just need to find a way to express it.

  3. i dont really like tribute bands that much . but i hear the guns n roses tribute band is really good.

  4. I think good music is just that....good music no matter who's playing.  I don't love or hate tribute bands.  I have seen Dark Star Orchestra, a tribute band to the Grateful Dead.  They were very good.  Enjoyed the show alot.  Hope you have fun at the show.  I wouldn't mind seeing Brother Peach and Livewire myself.

    Remember the old saying:

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

  5. Personally, tribute bands aren't my thing. I would much rather either see the real band, or at least listen to their recordings. Though, I once briefly met the lady who 'plays' Christine McVie in the band "Fleetwood Bac" {she worked in a shop near me}.

Someone I used to know is a Queen obsessive, and went to see the band "Magic", who she said were amazing.

I wouldn't want to be in a tribute band. Whilst I would love to be in a band that plays covers by some of my many favourites, I would rather we were identified as ourselves, and not for pretending to be others...

  6. Never understood the point. Especially if the real bands are still around and performing.

  7. I don't like tribute bands. They may be talented, but completely unoriginal. I've heard of one in particular that's supposed to be great....The Machine, which is a Pink Floyd tribute band. I refuse to see them. It's not the original and it never will be.

  8. I think it's fine if they are attempting to recreate an experience you couldn't have otherwise.    For example, the moment that the original members of KISS reunited in 1996, all KISS tribute bands went out of business to me.    Of course, the originals have split up again, so I'd be inclined to drop $5 to see a KISS tribute band now.

I've seen some that are better than others.   The Atomic Punks is a Van Halen tribute band, and their lead vocalist could have been recruited to sing for the real Van Halen.    His vocal resemblance to David Lee Roth is uncanny.

  9. If done right they can be fun to see.  But they seem to me like WTF you can't come up with original ideas of your own to write your own songs.
