  1. This is just ridiciolus. The oil company is getting richer as we get poorer. The only good that comes out of this is that less people are driving and, thats better for the environment!

  2. indifferent...

Just the laws of supply and demand. Supply is low (and will be even lower in the future, since oil deposits will be exhausted at some point), demand is high (and increasing), so - logically - the price goes up.

Additionally: People DO pay $4/gal, they even do pay $8 to $12 (over here in Europe). So why should oil companies sell it for less?

If you're not willing to pay it there are alternatives. Public transport (though very underfunded and therefore underdeveloped in the US - but since you're in a democracy people can actually change that), riding the bike, walking, car sharing and/or pooling, ...

Being able to own and move a car is not a basic human right. People have managed to do without for milleniums and more and more people will have to do so in the future - no big deal.

  3. i am struggling as it is. Gas prices are too crazy and high. I cannot believe how high they are. Its crazy and we are being ripped off

  4. they are getting terrible.

$4.80 or more JUST on a gallon of gas,

i put in $60 just to fill up my car and got 11 gallons of gas!

  5. Back in the 70's there was a similar gas crisis...the government urged everyone to conserve energy in what ever form not just from gasoline.  The Arabs would not send us oil so oil became scarce.  President Nixon  called for everyone to conserve or there would be gas rationing....gas stations ran  out of gas to sell.  People did not burn their lights at Christmas time and turned up/down the thermostat to save energy.  The government WANTED everyone to cut back their consumption.  Now prices have soared but I don't remember seeing any stations closed because they ran out of gas.  I think the government has friends getting rich off of our ignorance. Drive less everyone!!!  Prices will come down.  Its the law of supply and demand.  No one wants to carpool or take the bus or train or subway.  Don't make me sacrifice!!  Well then pay $5.00 a gallon fools....its coming this year.

  6. I think it is too low. Too low gas price encourages demand & wastages & contribute to the GLOBAL WARMING & more hurricanes in US & make those Arabs richer.

It should be $12 a gallon like in UK . Then everyone except those really rich & show-off kinds will drive those big guzzers.

For me I use a motorbike & bicycle depending on distances.

Even if it is $20 a gallon also no problem for me !

  7. Frustrated.  Feel like I am being held up.  They are taking advantage of are need use our cars to get to work, etc.

  8. I feel sad.

It's ridiculous that I have to punch in teh card pin TWICE... because of the $50 per card limit in this state.  (Meaning it takes two sales to fill up a tank.)

It's ridiculous that I have to choose between enough food for my family, or enough gas to get to work.

It's sad that I need to only take my children to the library once a week, because it's 3 miles, adn we can't walk it, but I can't afford to drive it more than once a week.

It's sad, it's ridiculous, adn I wish I could do something.

  9. My girlfriend and I drive less. Total combined we put on 100 miles a week. We spend less then $20 a week on gas. We bought new bikes and have been riding to our local stores (and for fun). I feel better then ever....and my girls backside is lookin better everyday!

We moved a couple years ago and made sure that out favorite store and work were all within a few miles.

To the lady above...3 miles...ha! If the kids can walk then get going. How about some bikes? How about the bus.

  10. They are getting horrible!!!

  11. I don't like them but what choice do you have,  My poor truck only gets driven on the weekends.  I miss driving it but the car is cheaper to run,  change your habits that's all you can do.

  12. Demand is high, so prices are high.  It's simple economics.  Decrease the demand and the price will drop.  Pointing fingers in all different directions is for ppl who are bad at economics and unwilling to face reality.  I feel they reflect a rising rate of consumption.

  13. I feel used and dominated, and it excites me.

  14. for god sake we pay$12 a gallon in the uk .think your selfs lucky

  15. This whole oil crunch NEVER should have happened. Do you remember the gas wars in the 70's??? It didn't take a brain surgeon then, or now, to figure out that an alternative fuel was needed. Once again, our greedy short sighted government allowed this to happen.....as did we. Every suburbanite who bought a monster SUV (and clearly didn't NEED one!!!) is now suffering as result. It's a real shame that with all of our technology and resources, we are really no more advanced or better off than we were then. JMHO

  16. oh gee I just love them!

what kind of a question is that????

  17. Annoyed. I miss prices being 29.9 cents a gal.

  18. The sad thing about this whole situation; Americans have been here before. Reading some of the blogs everyone has great points, but if we do take our concerns to the right branch of government nothing will be done. The upper class still has not felt the shock as of yet. I am just above poverty and I feel that we will have to go to food banks and food pantry's to eat because I need money for gas to make sure that my children can participate in extra curricular activities. They need this like this to stay off the streets and out of trouble.  I walk to work unless I have football practice or a ball game just to help my family survive. We just need to stop driving and buying so many cars. Decrease the demand meet our demands. Medicaid systems are giving out gas cards for the people who are looking for work or that may have problems purchasing gas.

  19. Gas companies are making record profits for their corporate staff, and their stock holders.

If record profits aren't enough to satisfy them, our Congress should have stepped in two years ago and put a cap on it.  They haven't, so obviously a majority of Congress must own or have family members that own shares in the companies.

Congress won't allow refineries, if they did, the price would drop significantly once they were in full operation.  Congress is just as corrupt as the oil companies.

It won't change anytime soon.   So expect the prices to keep going up, or at least staying steady.

Vote the stock holders out of office, next time they are up for re-election

  20. I feel ripped off and angered at the uncalled for greed of the gas companies. You?
