i like sharapova but i would probably wanted maria to overtake the ranking because of her performance rather than justine getting out of the sports..or would she just consider all these things a turn of faith, and she just needs to prove to the world she's worth replacing henin..

i like also justine.......

  1. No because she hasnt really earned that top spot!!! So i think she`ll agree its better to work hard for it rather than just have it handed to her on a plate ! Plus Justine Rocks she was a great athlete the tour will miss her!

  2. Well, some things can't be helped. If Justine chose to retire, it was for a good reason: she wasn't playing her best. I guess it is luck for Maria, but she would have overtaken Justine anyway, later this year. Adieu, Justine. Welcome, Maria, and may you be No.1 for long.

  3. The terminator says right about Maria. She make it to number one. Justine is from my country and we love her much. Maria is from America and we love her too. She make number one before, so it is fair.

Is better to win in a battle for any victory, but is not meaning that it is not a victory. Sometime the other person surrender and this is how the person superior receives the win.

  4. No, she has to earn it, and actually stay there longer then just a few weeks. I dont see it happening or lasting. Though she reaches semis and finals pretty consistently, she doesnt play enough, or win enough tournaments to hold onto it. Along with the fact that other players are right there with her. Not as if she has a dominate lead as Henin did. There is only 300 points seperating her from the next 4 players, and just 1000 ahead of Serena. Plus she has nagging injuries, her shoulder, thigh, something bothering her, especially after losses, or long matches, but many players today are hurting more easily due to the power of play.

  5. she deserves it.

  6. its not good , but no one can help it

  7. There wasn't exactly much she could do about it was she? She has no control of Justine retiring.  Suppose instead of retiring, Justine played c**p and lost the ranking. Would you then be happy for Maria?

The number one ranking is not a title. The French OPen is a title. I'm more interesting in seeing Maria win there than holding hte #1 ranking.

  8. Maria would have gone to number one this year anyway with or without Henin's retirement. Sharapova is having a great year none the less

  9. Justine was a marvellous player and person. She had such a huge lead that I doubt that anyone would have caught her and surpassed her for quite some time. Maria was ranked #1 before at three different times so she is worthy of the position and it was a hand dealt by fate that has her there again now. She will do her best to fend off the challenges of wanna be's and keep it until a worthy replacement comes onto the scene.

Merci French Toast pour vos aimables paroles intelligentes. ;)

  10. Didn't Henin have a ginormous lead in the points? It seems that it would've taken forever to get there the normal way.  Maria has been playing so well this year, I think she deserves the spot.  I think everyone knows that she is the best player at this time, so I have no problem with her getting the top spot in a non-traditional way.

And, she will have to work hard.  Ana is only 64 points behind Maria last time I looked, so her lead will be tight, not this giant sprad that Justine had created.

  11. She sucks
