I know diabetes is in my family. ( my great aunt and uncle on my dads side and also my cousin on my dads side has had it since the age of 5)

Im considering making a Drs appointment due to the way I have been feeling but I dont really want to waste my time and money if its nothing.

So here is my question. How do you feel when you eat too much sugar. I have problems with my blood pressure and heart rate the way it is. I try to stay away from sugary foods just because it makes me feel...Blah!

Every now and then I will get a sweet tea from Mcdonalds and maybe some of the cinnamon melts they have. After I drink the tea or eat the cinnamon melts i get really shaky and my heart rate goes crazy, i get really sick to my stomach and feel like i gotta go to the bathroom. (also get this way when i drink coffee with lots of sugar in it)

I never used to be like this with sweets. You think its just a sugar high or maybe Iam developing diabetes? Btw im only 20 years old :] Thank you

  1. Amber   !

If there is more sugar in the blood than required the body will show the following signs

--The person has to make very frequent trips to the restroom. The amount of urine each time will be also much greater than the routine volumes.

--Most often they have a quenchable thirst, they require a large amount of liquid to satisfy their thirst.

--Most of the time they are hungry, especially soon after eating.

--Though they are eating a lot to satisfy their hunger they are more tired. A feeling of fatigue is most of the time there.

--They have the short breath without doing much physical work.

  2. you feel like having ants in your pants . but there not there. Or like bucket over flowing .

  3. Don't confuse the ingestion of a lot of sugar with having high blood glucose levels. In non-diabetics the supply of blood sugars are regulated by the body and excess is stored.

However it is worth medically checking out your reaction to such comparatively small amounts of sugar. You may be experiencing some sort of reaction to the sugar – for example a sudden rush of sugar may be followed by the body overproducing insulin to control it. This can lead to something called reactive hypoglycaemia, which can be found in non-diabetics and type 2 diabetics.

In any case, it's worth having a check up with the doctor if there's a family history of type 2.

  4. I feel terrible when it's too high!!!

I feel like I'm weighted down, as if I can't lift my arms and legs.  I feel tired, sick at my stomach, or sometimes just like you said, "Blah!".  And other times, if I snap and eat something I shouldn't, my heart rate seems to go through the roof!  That part worries me more than anything.

Go to a doctor!! You said you're only 20 years old.  Take care of yourself now so that you don't have years (and a lot of them) taken off of your life!  You'll make yourself and your family feel better.
