  1. In order to figure this out, you have to fill your tank to full first.  Also reset your trip odometer to 0 at that point.  Then drive until your tank is getting low and you want to fill it up again.  Fill it up all the way to full again, and divide the number of miles you drove by the number of gallons you just filled.

Example 337 miles divided by 14.2 gallons = 23.7 miles per gallon

  2. if you want to find out faster than waiting to empty the tank then just fill up, set the trip to 0, drive about 50-100 miles and go back to a gas station and fill up again. divide the miles you drove by the amount of gas you put in to fill up again

  3. Mileage driven / gallons used = MPG (miles per gallon)

  4. Miles driven divided by gallons used!

  5. reset your triptometer when you fill up then after your on the 3 again and filling up divide your mileage by the amount of gallons you car can hold. Thats your Miles per gallon or MPG.

  6. Wait until your gas tank is empty, then keep a log of how many gallons of gas you put in the car compared to how many miles you drive.

  7. Find out what your tank holds.

    Fill up.

    Hit the little mileage counter.

    Drive till you essentially empty.

See how many miles you went.

Divide by # of gallons your tank holds.

    Easy.

  8. J *: you missed few important items:

    1. Fill up & rest tripometer. Do not over do it - once pump clicks, you stop.

    2. Drive for some time (300-400 miles)

    3. Fill up on same gas station ( not all of them pump SAME amount of gas). Don't over do it again

    4. Divide miles by miles driven

Do steps 1-4 five six times. Make sure you drive in similar conditions - if you spend time in traffic, car eats more gas (unless it is hybrid).

Or - buy luxury car :)

  9. set your trip odometer to zero when you fill up.

drive around until the red light comes on.

record the number of miles driven.

divide miles by number of gallons your tank holds.

    (eg.  335 miles driven / 15 gallon tank = 22 mpg roughly)

  10. 1. Run the car until the tank is almost empty

    2. Fill up your tank and see how many gallons it takes

    3. Set the Trip Odometer

    4. See how far you can go before you run out of gas.

    5. Divide the miles you went by the gallons you put it

  11. Take the miles you have driven and divide by the gallons of gas. The result is the miles per gallon.

  12. I reset my mileage and devide that by how many gallons I put in Such as 10.000 Gal 375 Mi gives me 37 Miles to the gallon

    God I love Civic's
