i live in a suburb of a bigger municipality and the police and courts are really upside down, i just missed a court date for a pet licensing issue and was paid a visit from a police officer informing me that i have to post a 300.00 bond to get a new court date. however i was a victim of vandalism twice once 5 tires were slashed on two of my vehicles. i saw the kid finishing and chased after him( he was on a bike) called the police and showed them a full on hand print. they said and i quote " so" i found the kid who admitted on the bus the next day ( he was bragging about it) told the police i wanted him punished...nothing was done they even referred to this kid as the columbine kid!!! went to his mother and she made restitution but the kid wasn't held accountable. another time food and paint was poured over my car and again was shoved to the side as if i weren't important. my son was jumped by 6 other kids at the park was kicked in the back legs and stomach. was told by the officer " what do you want us to do? but heaven forbid i don't register my dog... when i had my first court date there were so many people there for the same thing what can i do?

  1. First off, I would really like to know where you live because that is ridiculous.

I would make your concerns known to the police commissioner, and if he/she still passes the buck, I would contact your local representatives.  Send all letters by certified mail and save copies of all documents you send and receive.  If that still does not help, contact a lawyer and present him/her with all of your saved documents.

  2. one word..revolution.

  3. thats bs. Get a mob together and beat up those 6 kids and then slash that other kids bike tires. If i was there i would totally help. Go to a higher person to complain about the police not doing anything. Or theres a state person you can write a letter to but i forgot what position.

  4. I know city bureaucracy can be frustrating :-(.  You should be able to file a complaint at the city hall or police station...but if you live in a violent community, they may not give your complaint much weight.

The things that have happened to you sound just awful...if you live in a city, you may find more peace moving to a safer and more rural area (where the real estate is likely cheaper as well).  It's completely up to you and your needs in your life.

  5. I know you had taken valuable time to type this....but if you have a nearby City Hall I would honestly take it there and if that don't work try going to the Police Station.........

  6. Wow,I wouldn't want to live there. If you were in New York state, things would defiantly be different. For the youth who slashed your tires,he would be refereed to juvenile court and probably put on probation. His mother making restitution is not teaching him anything.I would go to the district attorney. Also ,the kids who jumped your son,I would pursue that also.Did you get the officers names?Badge numbers?

  7. The best thing to do is to take your complaint with officer names and badge numbers to the chief of police.  DO NOT mention the dog issue.  That will make you look like you are just doing this to get out of your own legal mistakes.  Instead, present the things that happened to you and that in the one case the mother made restitution and explain that the police did nothing.  It will take a looooooong time to get it sorted out, but this is the legal (and morally right) way to handle it.

Now, if you want to ***** about your legal issue and open a whole bag of worms, send in your complaints with your legal issue to all the news stations in the area suggesting they do a story on police corruption and police inactivity.  Reporters love those kinds of stories because they may one day win a Pulitzer from it.
