How do you fill in the cracks of wall paneling?

I live in a mobile home from the 70's the walls are painted but I hate the paneling look and want to fix it but need to know what work the best and longest.

  1. I would prime the walls and then use drywall compound and lay it on with a large putty knife(6") and give it a plastered wall effect. After it dries prime it with primer tinted close to your pain color. Let dry and paint with your wall color.


  2. i would use spackle that you can find at lowes or for that matter any hardware store

    then you could sand it to get it smoothe and paint!

  3. Buy some pre-pasted wall paper. in your choice and paper it.......You can use 2 different colors with a chair rail.......or paint  the bottom half a matching color.......Just hang the paper, the grooves will not show after the paper dries.....I have done several walls this way.......

  4. I put 3/8 sheetrock over all the walls and covered up the paneling then spackeled and painted the room looks great it took me three days to do this

  5. putty!
