How do you find a bike tires size?

i found my uncles old bike (road bike) and it looks like in perfect condition except for the tires. im thinking to get the tires replaced and enter in road race completion for my dream is to be in the olimpics. im currently 13 so yeah.

where do you find the size of the tire.

note:the bike is about 10 years old

  1. It's on the tire.

    It sounds like you should find some local help. Many bike shops offer free classes in tire changing and basic safety inspection/repair. If you have an REI in your town they offer classes. The reason I point this out is, you need to know how to change a tire and make sure your cables, brakes and bearings are safe. Very safe if you plan to ride fast.

    Also, bike shops and cycling clubs sponsor teams. If you want to be a racer look for a team to join.


  2. The size in imprinted right on the side of the tire.

  3. yea its usually right on the side of the tire :-)

  4. it should be printed or molded into the side of the tire.  should say something like 700x23 or something of that nature. or if it could even possibly say 27x1 or something depending on the rims.  10years isnt very old, and 27" tires would be a surprise.  i would say more than likely they would be 700c tires.
