I am looking for a breeder for a kitten for end of this year ideally. Our beloved cat passed on last weekend and whilst we cannot replace her we would like to give another cat a home.

MY Son would like a cat from a baby (kitten) so if you know any good breeders in the Hampshire UK area then i would be grateful.

  1. why not get a kitten from the cat protection league!

There are so many that really need homes and im sure you will find the perfect pet there. Its nice to make a difference for these poor animals!

  2. If you truly want to give another cat a home, please visit your local shelter and adopt one that needs you!

  3. You do not need a breeder!  There are millions of cats that don't have homes and many new litters from irresponsible owners and the kittens even have to be put to sleep or run feral.  Go to your local SPCA and adopt a kitten.

  4. I would recommend in the first place going to a cat show and speaking to the owners of the breed you want. Not only will you get information about breeders you will find out characteristics of the breed you want first hand.

You can also contact  the Nationalcat club of  the UK who will have lists of shows and the name of reputable dealers

    nationalcatclub.co.uk

If you're looking for a specific breed..Each breed has it's own association e.g  www.siamesecat.co.uk google you're prospective breed and they will be able to help.

I have added this: I agree that getting a cat/kitten from a rescue centre is terrific but some people like a certain breed and should have the option. I was trying to find statistics but I am sure the number of mixed breed cats far outways those of purebreed. Some of the ancient breeds like the Egyptian Mau have ancestory going back 4000 years.

I have always had mixed breeds cats and dogs. Getting my last 2 cats from rescue centres. In fact whilst in the USA I spent my 3 years there rescuing cats myself, getting them neutered and rehomed. But chose Siberian huskies this time when getting my dogs.

  5. Going to a local shelter and adopting one that needs you is the best advice I can give. Other than that if you have local cat shows where you live. There are responsible  breeders to be found there too.

  6. A good breeder will allow you to visit the place, and will ideally have mum and kittens in the house as part of the family so that they are well socialised to humans, and other animals. A good breeder will only breed their queen three times in 2 years. The house will be spotlessly clean and there will be not cat pee smell. The animals will all be healthy, with clear eyes and noses and good coats. I presume you are going for a breed cat, so you can also attend shows and meet breeders there and talk to them. Some you will get along with better than others. The calmer and more relaxed the person, the better your chances of getting a welladjusted kitten. But, if they are willing to releast the kitten before 16 weeks, start looking a little further afield.

  7. please do not breed your cat their are so many out their that would like a loving home. As much as i know you would like to have a kitten from your cat the only problem is your not just going to have 1 little kitten, theirs probably going to have 8 in the litter and it will just add on to all the other dogs in the shelter. Please the best and easiest way to get a kitten is to look up local animal shelters and go to them and ask them you are interested in adopting a kitten they would gladly show you the cats and i bet you will find one you'll fall in love with i know i did..... i did 3 times

    My cat Jackie ( tabby)

    My dog Jazz  (Chihuahua mix)

My other dog Riley( daschund mix)

now remember not all the dogs at the shelter are mixes most of them are purebreds if that's what you are looking for. please consider to adopt from a shelter it is the right choice to make.

    hope i helped

    Bye!

  8. Check at www.petfinder.com

Kitten season is in it's second wave so finding one at a reputable rescue should be really easy.

  9. go to your local shelter when you are ready to adopt
