How do you find a good stylist?

I'd like to get my hair professionally styled, I don't really trust the people in the salons to know what to do. How do I find a good stylist?

I go to yp.yahoo.com and look at user reviews.

Ask people who's hair you like.  When you go into a salon, take note of which stylist has great hair.  Don't go to the chick who has a mullet, or who has damaged hair.  Best way is referrals.
