  1. Ask around, which is what we did. We ended up using my husband's bosses photographer and she was amazing.

  2. As around, go to theknot.com and search in your local area. Just do google searches and take it from there.

Never hire a wedding photographer that doesn't listen to you, but that's also not to say that they shouldn't have input, either (that's what you're paying for, of course).

Interview a ton, look at LOT at their portfolios (which are usually online) and go with the one that combines the best photos that are YOUR style and one who's personality you mesh with.

You want one that's no nonsense but also personable. Even if you have a wedding planner, photographers are usually the ones who call the shots on the big day because they need to get the picture. Your photographer should not be afraid to get in people's away, so long as they're not rude about it.

The portfolio and experience is really the most important, though. If they've done it for years, and their portfolio is great, you know you're getting a good one.

  3. try searching on craigslist.com! there are alot of advertisments on there that are from all over the country!

  4. Ask people who you know that have gotten married or needed a photographer for another occasion who they used and if they were satisfied.  I'm using bella pictures.  Their portfolios are amazing and they have many photographers and they set you up with one that will fit your style.
