How do you find a sales tax on something that is 966.69. Please Help!?

My homework says i need to add the sales tax to something that is 966.69 and i don't understand.. please help me!

States set their own sales tax rates.  They are all different.  Some counties and cities also have sales tax.  Once you know the sales tax rate, you multiple the purchase price by the sales tax rate and add the product to the purchase price.

Multiply the $966.69 by whatever the sales tax rate is (for example 7%)

966.69 x .07 = 67.67 (rounded up to the nearest penny)

then add the 966.69 to the 67.67 = 1034.36

Another way to do it is mulitiply 966.69 x 1.07 = 1034.36
