Very good question!! I think this is one that millions ponder the world over, so here's my contribution: You can't find them! They're far too sneaky and devious, so you've got to draw them out. It takes patience and endurance, especially in the humidity of summer, but anyway....

Lie down under a blanket with your whole body completely covered, but leave one bare arm exposed. Your other hand (the fastest one) should be just inside the blanket ready to strike, and you should have just a crack of an opening so that you can see the whole of your arm. Eventually, the little b*****d will find the smell of your sweaty hot aroma irresistible and will come down for a "bite" When she does, SPLAT!!!

That instant will make the wait worthwhile.
