My neighbor's bird escaped - it's an African Gray Congo Parrot. Is it likely to be in a tree, or somewhere else? If we do see it, how are we supposed to catch it?

How can we help our neighbor find his bird?

  1. i dont catch it ith a cage NEVER A NET IT SPOOKS BIRDS call to it

  2. Your friend should have the birds cage outside near where the bird has perched. He should call to it in a normal voice. However he greets him when he comes home. Put yummy treats in the cage. The bird knows where his food is usually. If he has other birds at home he should put their cages out during the day to flock call to him. These can work.

    I found this:

  3. My sun conure did the same thing and I had just clipped his wings but even with clipped wings they are still strong fliers. I went out and called him in the voice I always great him with when I came home. I brought his cage out site and my other birds. My Quaker squawked an my sun conure continued to call back to him until I could locate him. He flew from tree to tree and ended up spending the night in a tree. I stayed out all night and watched for him and in the morning I brought my Quaker out and let her call to him. I got on my roof and he flew over me in a tree. Then it started raining and I had to get off the roof. When it stopped raining he flew to a tree a lot closer to the ground and I tried to climb it but he was still too high. I made everybody that was helping leave us alone because he is my bird and afraid of strangers. He finally flew to my neighbors roof and I climbed up there and brought my Quaker and told her how beautiful she was and how much I loved her and my sun conure got jealous of the attention I was giving her and he flew onto my shoulder and I put her in the cage my quaker was in.

    Good Luck!!

  4. This happened to me once too.

Keep an eye out in the trees.  Call to it and it may answer to help you locate it.  If it's friendly it will climb onto your hand/arm.  It will be very concerned about other birds around it and may hide.  Get out there NOW and help!

  5. Put the birds cage out and have the owner call his bird...

Hopefully the bird is tame otherwise there is no big change that he will come back.

Just keep your eyes open and inform the owner as soon as you see the bird.

If you try to catch him move very slowly and talk very quietly to the bird..

    Good luck
