  1. I remember Diane, too. I was born in 1955 & she was a year older than me. I lived on Parkside & Westend & she lived on Central, the next street parallel to mine. She would sometimes walk w/us to school, but not usually. I remember she was always kinda disheveled--hair messy, glasses cocked, socks slid down. Her mom was divorced, which was unusual for that time.
Floyd Kalber gave the details of her gruesome death on her way to the YMCA near the library & Town Hall. Police came to question me, but I had little to tell them.
Later that year, an older man on our street tried to kiss me and the police were summoned again.
About a year later than that, a gun was fired through a back window of the stairwell.
It was scary but we felt, for the most part, safe.  Same things happening today in the City.
