My father was married for a short time before he married my mother, and my half sister has never known when he and her mother were married, or divorced. They married in Texas. I'd like to help her find this info. Thanks.

  1. With Census records1930 is the most recent records we can get.  But marriage and divorce records are public.  You should be able to find them in the county where they lived.  A good place to start might be the county where your sister was born.  Another place to go, if unsure of the County would be ancestry.com and search the records there!

  2. Ancestry.com is a good place to start. My father and I have been doing work on our family since I was a child so we are quite familar with helpful tips. Although the website listed may provide you with the answer you need there is no way to tell whether or not some one has placed that information about your family there through their work but the website does charge a fee. If you know the county in which they lived or at least the city you can look up the information at the local courthouse and library. The best information you can get is from your living family. If that is not an option and you have a name or a partial one it is an easier search in the courthouse. Also you can hire a certified genealogist or find one who will help you (they are usually hanging around the courthouse records). Good luck to you and I hope you find what you are looking for.

  3. Texas has some of their marriage and divorce records on line.  I don't remember how I located it but probably by doing a google search.  You could aslo ask your dad.
