I've been looking for some mature, yet happy music to skate too on youtube, but I haven't really found anything that suites me... Have any suggestions?

  1. I try to find things that I haven't heard anyone really use or something that isn't used often.  I just picture the judges rolling their eyes when hearing the same junk used over and over!  I snoop around on iTunes, old CD's and have been trying to stay away from the soundtracks, but those are always a good standby.  Like you, I recently tried to find something mature rather than the old Disney movie cop out in my old age.  haha  Check these two out....this one you can find on YouTube.....Second Waltz....look under Andre Rieu.  I love that one and Andre does a great rendition, but someone else at my rink was using it and I didn't realize it until AFTER I fell in love with it.  I'm using Masquerade Waltz.  It's fun, waltzy of course and a little mysterious and I haven't heard it used much.  Good luck!

  2. on youtube?! try competition music. :) I've also noticed they had skater music in those ice skating stores next to the rink.

  3. You need to broaden your range and listen to lots of different music. Make sure you ask your coach as well, they will have observed your skating style and will know whts good. You should try to have light and dark in the music, and remeber that you cant skate to the whole track, it'll need to be cut. Limewire is a good place to search, it'll let you listen to samples of albums. I would recommend "Peter Pan" (the motion picture) composed by James Newton Howard for happy and mature music. But there are so many pieces of music out there, random and different can be good, and if you choose common and/or well known music, people may get bored or judges may mark you on what someone else has done previously.

        Good luck =D

  4. go to music stores like the music section in barnes and noble and just pick out some instrumental cd and see if their is one that sounds good.

  5. Ever hear of Vanessa Mae?

The Devil's Trill is one of many good choices.

  6. check out some classic music or ask your choreographer, if not your coach!

  8. well, really depends on the level of difficulty you want to make your solo. if you want to make your steps right on, try a slower one, if you want to be on the beats, maybe something a bit more up beat. if it's freeskate, try something very classical, and for artistic, try an opening theme from any of your favorite movies or shows, it'll help you find the mood of the solo ALOT easier. hope that helps=D

  9. try songs with out lyrics till you get really good...some times the lyrics can through you off
