  1. i'm just like you!

i've never asked my mom and you wanna know why? cuz if she wouldn't ever have told me before, there must be a reason she doesn't want to. who knows why not. maybe there was something she just doesn't want me to know about him. and i really wish i knew who my dad was, but i'm trying to let it go cuz at least i know my life is going fine anyways.

i know it's hard, but maybe there's a reason. if it's bothering you that much, you could ask her. but try working your way to the question. dn't just blurt it out all of a sudden. try finding a time that you know you can have enough time for her to actually listen to you.

i'm planning to become an actress so i can have enough money to do tests. like, DNA tests. i'm not sure how this is all gonna work, but i'm hoping i can figure something out.

i really hope you can talk to your mom about this situation, cuz it's a tough subject. good luck!!

  2. Since this is the genealogy section, I will say opt for a yDNA test. It will give you your ancestry on your Dad's side.  I recommend www.familytreedna.com.  Of course, it doesn't work for females; you need either your father or a brother to do that.

  3. Some years ago I had an altercation with my father. He didn't behave as I believed he should in a situation where he was cheated by a contractor.

Discussing it with my mother she tearfully said that he was not my bio father, and she went on to describe the real one. I investigated the name, and it came out that he was Jewish, so I am half Jewish, and it explains my intellectual bent and academic accomplishments. It was a refreshing revelation.

  4. Ask your mother and then tell her your thoughts. If it is going to cause a big riff some things are better left alone.

  5. Wanting to know your heritage and family is normal, but when dealing with a minor, our hands are a bit tied.  Any information HAS to be with the consent and involvement of your mom.. for the simple reason (already stated) that she may have a completely valid reason to not give you that info at this time. It could be anger on her part or it could be that he is such a risk to you, or a jerk that she is trying to protect you.

I was a kid in the 50s.. and know that in the 60s, the social shift was from prejudice towards unwed mothers, to the other extreme of complete disregard for any relationship, and "free love".  And today, there still is very little stigma towards single moms. Thus.. there are more and more kids who have no connection or knowledge of their father. It does make it hard on the kids, I think.

It might be that mom chooses to keep this information for a time when she feels you are more mature, in her judgment. For the moment, you have to accept that. You can't do anything without the name.

  6. Your 1st step would be to ask your mom. That would be the most beneficial person that has the answers. Ask other family members also. Atleast try to get a name and then off to the internet from there

  7. Is is really necessary ?.In the west i.e in Europe and more so in America ,Single mothers are not looked down upon and it is also considered normal. but in the east every thing revolves around the fathers community as such. It is a patriarchal society. One does not expect such a question from a person..I believe you have to look into your nearest maternal relatives to give you some insight into the problem. your grandmother, aunt, uncle who may be able to help you. I don't see any reason to blame your mother or create a rift between you & her for this . You will never know or understand the reaI reason for your mother to be alone or take you away from your father. If you understand that life can carry on as it is now...... then continue with life. !!
