How do you find out how someone died when you cant find it in the newspaper

A young man recently died in my neighborhood and the newspaper says nothing about how.

In the UK you can visit on line the cheif registar which will how a record of Births Deaths and Marriages.

Honestly? Call a few of the local funeral homes where his service may have been held. After you find out the date and where, try to trace it from there. Maybe you can find out from the funeral home where the family is and perhaps they can contact the family for you.

If his obituary was in the newspaper but the cause of death was not mentioned, it's because the family didn't want it to be public knowledge.  There are many reasons a family may feel this way -- such as a death by suicide, a death from AIDS, etc.

If he died in an accident or something like that, there probably would have been a news story on him.  But based on what you said, my guess is that the family would prefer to not make the cause of death known.  The funeral home might be willing to tell you, but don't count on it.
