Most crimes are violations of State penal codes (or statutes), while some may be violations of local laws. If you are interested in finding out the sentencing for a State crime, most, if not all, State criminal laws can be found online.  You may have to find the crime and its categorization (e.g. Class D Felony) in one statute and then look up another law/statute to determine the potential sentence.
