Majority of those sites are OUTDATED or incorrect.  Best to hire Private investigator but it's even better when you have a friend who is a P.I. ;-)

Go to the department of corrections for your state, on your web site and it will guide you to their inmate look up system. which is Otis in Michigan. then type in his name if he is there Otis will find him. You can find past and present

I'd say it depends on the location if its a s*x offender, you should be able to go to your state or local websites and find out there.. or if there in jail, and u know the name and location of the jail that would possibly help you get the info your looking for.. but beware some websites try to charge for some of that info.. aint nuttin free anymore.. best of luck

I've been recommending http://www.v1g.org to people in your same situation. They have been choosing it as best answer, the site is cheap, instant, and accurate. You can find a persons entire criminal background report there, and many other records for that person as well

You can run a background computer check for a small fee.

Google, or use an online background check service.  Be careful about these services though. Sometimes the info isn't always current.
