Question:

How do you find out your bra size? ?

I've worn a 34B for a long time; they fit well.

But yesterday I wanted to see what size I really am.

My bust was 29. And over my b***s was 33.

I don't get why they say "if your bust is an odd number, add 5. if it is even, add 4." Why would you need to do that. Then I'd have 34 as bust minus around my boos (33). The difference is 1, and I'm definitely not an A. My mom did the same thing and she ended up with an A too, but she's a C/D.

If I did 33 - 29, the difference is 4. And I'm not a D.

But I can fit into a 32 C because I have a bra that size that I wear a lot.

Can someone help me out?

  1. Easy, just go to Victoria's Secret, they'll measure you for free.  You don't have to buy a bra there if you can't afford it.

  2. do not go to victoria's secret. my friend works there, and they do not train their employees how to measure correctly; she was never even taught how to. if there is a nordstrom where you live, go there. they are really good about sizing.

  3. 'and I'm not a D'. Do you know that for sure? This is the reason women wear the wrong size. It's assumed that D is huge, but it's actually quite small. The average is about DD/E. A few months ago, I was wearing a 32C, purely because I thought I looked a 32C. I then got measured as a 32DD, then a 28F. I tried on a 32C the other day and couldn't believe I tried to squeeze myself into them.

It's good you've recognised that the 'add 4/5in' thing is bullshit - because it is. It would squeeze you into a very ridiculous A cup. Your band size is actually 30 - the band should be no more than 1 or 2in bigger than your actual under bust measurement. Throw your 34s away!

Now, 33 - 30 is a C. But, if you wear a 32C, a 30C will be too small. Further proof that measurements don't determine your size!

Check your current bra. Is there any spillage, are the wires digging in? If it seems to fit fine, then you should try a 30D (when you go down a back size, you go up a cup size). If it's too small, try a 30DD etc. Remember, Ds aren't big - most people are DD/E. Try your nearest Bravissimo if you're in the UK. If not, check these websites (don't go to VS!)

  4. Victoria's secret does free sizing. just go in and ask to be measured. or go to a specialty bra shop...

  5. It is easy.

Take a tape measure and wrap it around your chest over your b*****s.  This is the number on the bra.  It signifies the size of your chest.  The cup size is in letters.  A is smallest, and up they go.  Find a bra with your chest size and check out several different cup sizes.  Try them on in the fitting rooms and see which one feels the most comfortable.  You might need to go up or down a chest size depending on what brand of bra you are buying.

    Good luck.

  6. Go to a department store and have yourself fitted.

  7. Hello

I always go to La Senza to get my bras, but I'm sure it doesn't matter where you go.  Anyways, to help you out a bit because I'm confused about what you said.

The 32, 34, 36..and so on... that is for around your body/back.  So, if you are wearing a 34 and you find it is too loose, go down one size, which would be a 32.  If you find it is too tight and it is making you uncomfortable, go up to a size 36.

Now.. as for the B-that is your cup size.  If you find that your b***s are falling out of the top, then clearly it is too small.  If that is the case, then try a C, and if u find that the b is too big, then head to an A!

    Hope this helps.

The reason why you may fit better in the 32 c, is because you are going smaller around your back(instead of 32), and the cup size really doesnt change that much.  It is hard to explain. Basically, the higher you go in the 30's, the bigger the cup size goes.

  8. The bra fitting method that requires you to add 4-5" to your under-bust to find band size is quite wrong. I would estimate that you're a 30C (29 rounded to nearest even number is 30; 33-30 = 3 --> C). This is only an estimate! You should try on a range of sizes when you bra shop.

Particularly, in your case, you'll need to review your size, since you say you fit into a 32C. A 32C actually holds the same cup volume as (variously) a 34B, 36A, 30D, and 28DD. So if you wear a 30, a 30D will be an equivalent cup size with a smaller band.

That said, some U.S. brands have smaller bands, so 32C may very well be your bra size in some brands (I usually wear a band size smaller in British/European bra brands such as Chantelle, Freya, and Fantasie). Like Felt Monkey said, you can't tell your size just from your measurements, no matter what anyone tells you: every woman (and her b*****s) are shaped differently; no sizing method could accommodate everyone. I suggest instead looking at how your bra currently fits you to determine your true size: Does your bra band ride up? Do your shoulder straps dig in? Does the underwire fully encase your b*****s without losing contact with your skin? etc. Felt Monkey posted some good links (I love the Bravissimo guide); I posted a quiz to give you further indication of what's wrong with your size.
