  1. Fill up your tank. (it's expensive, but you must do this). Reset your trip meter. Drive for awhile. (at least 100 miles). then fill up the tank again. Note how many gallons you put in and divide that number into the miles driven (on your trip meter). That's your average miles per gallon.

  2. every time you fill it up (and always fill it) write down the number of gallons and the mileage number.

then subtract that mileage number from the last one and divide by number of gallons. Do this over a number of tanks to bet a better number.

    .

  3. I don't know if there is some formula to it or not? I thought you just fill it up, reset the trip odometer, and watch the gas gauge, to get an idea of how many miles you can go on a gallon or on tank. I could be wrong, though?

  4. Write down the mileage of your vehicle.  Then fill your tank.  Drive for three of four days and stop at the gas station again.  Refill your tank and right down the gallons it holds.  Then divide the number of miles you have traveled by the number of gallons to refill and your count will be accurate.

  5. fill your tank up remember the gallons reset your trip drive until you use the same amount of gas then take the miles and divide it by how many gallons. for example    you went 220 miles with 7.5 gallons that give you 29.333333 which i 29.3 mile per gallon

  6. Filler Up.........

    Drive like 200 miles........

Filler up again.......NOTE how many gallons it took to re-fill.

Note the MILES DRIVEN since that 1st fill-up.

DIVIDE gallons into miles driven, and you will get your average MPG.

Example:  200 miles driven divided by 10 gallons used = 20.0 mpg
