How do you find someone whose name you only know?

i know their real name and state where they lived when i last talked with them, but then they disappeared off the face of the earth. how can i find them again!

You might try www.zabasearch.com (if the person has a fairly common name, try entering an estimated birth year to narrow down your results).

Also try www.whitepages.com, and www.myspace.com, if the person is a professional you could try www.linkedin.com, etc.
