I'm looking for a defense attorney and I want to find the best there is. Is there a site that rates attorney's? Is there a way to find out how many cases they have won? I don't care how expensive they are as long as they are the BEST. How can I find out who's the BEST?

  1. All recomendations to the contrary, the only way is to contact the Law Society, for the jurisdiction, the trial will take place in, for a heads up about a lawyers record in court hearings, or by a personal recomendation, anything else that leads to a good lawyer is pure blind luck, from personal experience, they are few and far between, and if you find one, I suspect, that like anyone else who does, you will keep the good news to yourself...

So do not expect much in  the way of help, from this forum....

  2. You're not going to find the "best" attorney, because there's not going to be any agreement who is best, and a rating site is pretty much worthless. But you can do well to get the list of attorneys in your area who are certified in criminal law by your state's board of legal specialties. You can find them by searching BOARD LEGAL SPECIALTIES and your state. Typically, they have to have been in practice for some years, make criminal practice some percentage of their practice, meet C.E. requirements, be tested, and be approved by judges and other attorneys. You'll usually find that this is quite a small percentage of practicing attorneys that hold the certification.

  3. Finding a good attorney is about as tedious as finding a needle in a haystack.  Ask around.  If you know someone or have a way of talking to someone that has been in the same predicament as you ask who they used and if they were satisfied with the work.

Interview! interview! Interview!!!!!!I  YOU are hiring THEM! THEY will  be working for YOU!! So be picky.  You are gonna have to find someone that you connect with because in order to have a better shot at a success on your behalf; the two of you will need connect and bond with each other.  Meet your new best friend!

The attorney/client relationship is probably the most important indicator of how well an attorney does  for his client.  You are gonna need to find someone  that is able to relate with you on some level, because that increases the chances of them taking a vested interest in you and your outcome.  Remember, YOU ARE THE BOSS!! DO NOT  let an attorney intimidate you into doing or settling for something you don't feel is right.  I don't know where you live but there is a really good  attorney in So Cal., Timmothy Pitullo (909) 980-1996.  I'm not sure if he practices criminal law but if he doesn't, I'm sure his office will be able to refer you to someone who does or  at least head you ion the right direction.

If you know a really good attorney but he doesn't practice criminal law, don't be afraid to ask him for a referral to one that does.  Good Attorneys stick together. There's not a more reliable source, other than someone who has first hand experience and knowledge of how  a  particular attorney operates and now many times he has won in court, as opposed to settling for a plea bargain or worse, LOSING!!

I'm not sure what kind of trouble you're in, but i was married to a cop for 18 years. In some respects the odds are stacked against you! On the other hand however, Most officers have an aversion to lawyers so i think it would be a safe to assume that it is hte other way around. So if it's the Department you're going after, keep an eye out for a hungry attorney that heates law enforrctment.I wish you luck! Take Care.
