  1. For the GCF:

    Divide each number using only prime numbers; until you cannot divide it any more:

    32 /2 (the result is written on the next line)

    16 /2

    8/2

    4/2

    2/2

    1

    56/2

    28/2

    14/2

    7/7

    1

    From each number; pick the divisors that are repeated on both of them; but with the lowest power; and multiply them.

    32 = 2X2X2X2X2

    56 = 2X2X2X7

    THE GCF in this case is 2X2X2 = 8  (the seven is not used because it is not commmon to both numbers; and you take the lowest power of 2 that appears; in this case 2^3).

    LCM:

    Again; find all the prime factors for both numbers; as you did for the GFC:

    32 = 2x2x2x2x2

    56 = 2x2x2x7

    Multiply all the factor for all numbers; but on the ones that are common, take only the one that appears WITH THE GREATEST POWER; in this case 2^5

    2x2x2x2x2x7 = 224

    Hope it works for you

  2. 32 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2

    56 = 2 * 2 * 2 *  7

    GCF = 2 * 2 *  2

    all common factors

    LCM = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 7
