How do you find the oxidation numbers of PbI2?

That's Pb I [iodine, ik this font makes it a bit hard to read!]2

im not asking anyone to do my homework for me, but i need to learn a few chapters of chemistry before school thats and this is the one part i dont understand!!! it would really be appreciated if someone could EXPLAIN how they got the answer, thanks!!

  1. In general, iodine is -1 if it is bound to an element that has a lower electronegativity than itself. Also, lead is a metal so it tends to have a positive ON. If the iodine is -1, and there's two of them, it means the lead is 2×1 = 2

    So Pb is +2, and I is -1.
