when it goes off, step outside with the throttle and pistol whip them (i doubt that it happens again)

file a police report -have them distribute the make and serial number to all pawn shops and hope for the best--probably gone though-install a burglar alarm--or get the next one with a detachable face plate and take it out when you park the auto

Im not really sure how your going to do that, but instead my dad said that when he installed after market stereos into his car he would put razor blades on the sides and buttom so the person that would try to steal it would be very sorry. That might help you when you have to replace your old one.
