  1. u find ancestors ON the internet not IN the internet

  2. You do not get information from LDS Temples.

You look in your local telephone book for Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.Under that look for Family History Library. You can go there and the volunteers will guide you.

If you are under 18 y/o  you should respect your parents right to make the decision not to discuss the matter with you. They may have a very good reason not to want to delve into the matter. Ask them why they feel the way they do then consider their feelings. Genealogy should never be used to uncover secrets better left alone.

  3. You can look in the resolved questions and find tons of links. People ask that question a dozen times a day here. BUT - you have to get back to at least 1930 off the Internet before you start finding genealogy data on the Internet. If your parents won't tell you, you won't get to anyone born before 1930 easily; maybe not at all. The likely explanations for them not telling you are:

    1) You are adopted

    2) One of them is adopted

    3) One of them is the result of rape or incest

    4) They are in the witness protection program

    5) One of your grandparents was a criminal

    6) One of your grandmothers doesn't know who one of your parents' father was because she was blind drunk at a party and / or coupled with the whole team the night they won the league championship

I could go on, but you can bet there is something better left uncovered in their past. Most kids know and love their grandparents. The exceptions are always sad. Tell them you respect their wishes and beg them to put their parents' names (if known) in their will, so you can start looking after they die. By then the embarrassment will have faded.

  4. Ancestery.com

    Genes reunited

    Goldenmemories.com

  5. Check out ancestry.com and also Latter Day (Mormon) temples or churches (not sure the name) have research places available for this. You do not have to be a member.

  6. That makes it real tough

    Check GenForum

  7. Without your family's cooperation it is going to be difficult.  Most geneologists block living family members from showing up on their sites.  You really need a family member to give you as much information as possible, names, birth & death dates, marriages, maiden names, brothers & sisters.  The more information you have to start with theeasier it will be.  Having said that, I am including links to some of the free sites that I have found useful.  I have also just typed in the first & last name, in quotes, of a person I am looking for plus the state if I know it, in my Yahoo! search bar.  Your family name can show up in different state histories and records.

    Good Luck

Don't be afraid to get in to some of the geneology forums for your family name.  Sometimes that can be very helpful as well.
