  1. Carp are bottom feeders usually so using dough bait and a hook and sinker should work. Don't keep your bait too far off the bottom. They are quite good fighting fish and are fun to catch. Lousy to eat but great to catch.

  2. thanks for the 2 points

  3. Uh, go with a friend and do both. Can't hurt.

  4. Go fishing for some other fish and wait for the carp to steal your bait.

The real question is why would you want to fish for carp?

  5. you usually use a bow and arrow or a spear

  6. You really don't need anything at all, i caught one when i was 6 with a plastic fishing rod.

  9. Short answer: You can use a sinker but fly line (hook and line only) will produce better results. Hook and bobber combination will work during summer time.

Carp are sensitive to weight. As soon as they felt too much weight, they'll drop your dough bait. If you must use a sinker, use the lightest sliding egg sinker. You'll have to pay attention to vegetations on the bottom when you use a sliding egg sinker. Vegetations could plug the hole and make the line fail to slide through the sinker. Once the line doesn't slide, the fish will feel the sinker.

You can use hook and bobber too. This combination will work pretty well during summer time. It will not always work unless you know when carp are willing to feed close to surface.

By the way, if there's a current and it is absolutely necessary to use a sinker, then you'll have to use boilies instead of dough baits. Moving current could wash off your dough bait.
