How do you fit a 16amp electric supply for an outside socket?

I am getting a van that needs electric standby, the supply needs to be 16 amp, if i plug it in to a normal socket will my home supply cope with it or do i need additional wiring

if you have any plug-ins outside probably not but if it was me I'd make sure that it is a GFI plug in---that protects you from harm--a gfi is a ground fault interrupter

Is this UK or USA if UK you need a dedicated circuit back to your consumer unit 2.5 cable correctly selected for the way you will run it IE in conduit/ SWA/ pvc/pvc indoors and the circuit must be 30Ma RCD protected ( and installed commisioned and certified by a competent person)

Depends on the socket you plug it into. A "normal" 110v socket is only rated at 15 amps so you'll need additional wiring. The circuit breaker that protects a normal socket is also only 15amp - and that 15 amp is shared among any other sockets or lights on that circuit. If one of the blades of the socket has a t-shaped slot, it's a 20 amp socket and should work.

This is assuming you want to plug into 110v ac and not 12v dc.

You need a dedicated circuit with one of these sockets outside to connect the van into. You find them on UK Campsites (amongst other places). Get an electrician to do it. http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/GW2...

You will need to use a 20 Amp 110Volt outlet connected to a 12 guage 3 wire conducter coming from a 20 Amp fuse or breaker. The 16 amp is the minimum required to supply the heater or charger. The plug will not fit any other outlet.

You should check the wire.If it is a # 12 should be ok for 16 AMP but you need a 20AMP circuit breaker. good luck.Sorry fireman did not read your answer.
