How do you fit a hand brake cable 4 cavalier ?

  1. You buy a Haynes manual for the car. It tells you what to do.

Are you fitting both cables?If its drum brakes?then raise the car as high as you can at the rear and chock it up.Remove rear wheels and brake drums,Pull on the cable and the handbrake shoe levers will come forward,Jam a screwdriver in them to keep them there.Remove the circlips holding the cable guides in place in the brake backplates,Uncrew the adjuster on the rear axle beam completely.Unhook the cable from thehandbrake lever under the middle of the car and the b/shoes.Fit new cables,but leave the adjuster nut loose.release the brake shoe levers,adjust brakes and fit drums.adjust handbrake cable till brake lever goes up 4/5 notches.Fit wheels
