Tapping lifters can be caused by several things.. if the valves are are adjustable, the clearance may need to be reset..This usually involves pulling the valve covers, and a  few hours of time..Most modern cars are not adjustable, and lifter noise is commonly caused by low oil pressure, low oil volume, or  wear caused by high mileage ( both symptoms of a weak/ worn oil pump), or a just plain dirty engine.. The oil flow into the lifters may be impeded by engine sludge or such..A product like Seafoam, Berryman B-12 Chemtool, or Envirotek Engine Flush should do wonders..If  that doesn't cure your problem, it's time to tear the engine down, and look for a hard mechanical fault.

  3. To see if maybe they are just kind of sticky use "Sea Foam" available at any auto parts store. Great stuff, works wonders. If it doesn't work it is time to visit a mechanic.

  4. You really can't.

    Those Isuzu Rodeos, I mean your Honda Passport, have a 3.2L v6 that is known for common valvetrain issues.
