My outside cat brought a me a baby bunny in this morning, I saved the bunny. There is only one puncture wound on the joint of its arm. He's about the size of a hand, and has all his fur? We are planing on nursing him back to health and keeping him as a pet. But his arm is broken i think and i need to fix it...Help?!

  1. If you really want to save him, you'll need to take him to the vet.

Cats' teeth and claws have HUGE amounts of bacteria on them, and with a puncture wound, he's not likely to make it past the infection that is already setting in.  One of the reasons that cats have the leisure time to play with their prey is that they can wait for the toxins to do the actual killing.  Most small animals will only make it for a few hours before their systems start to shut down.

Also, if you want the bone set properly, it will be best to have an xray done, and you can't do that at your house.

Please at least call the vet for more advice.

  2. Try to like click it back into place but make sure it doesnt bite you because it is a wild rabbit and it might have diseses or something. I suppose you could keep it as a pet because its a baby and could get used to it but i would ask your vet first for advice and the vet can fix its arm.

    Hope this helps :)

  3. listen its wild dont do that to it DONT KEEP IT AS A PET

and go to your local animal shelter and pray that it

will live they will let you know if it died

or if your head is set on keeping as a pet and killing the

poor thing at least take it to the vet

  4. the vet, get shots and ask them

  5. Your rabbit has ARMS?

If you want to save him, take him to the vet. Please, just let him go when he's healthy. Wild rabbits are not the same as domestic rabbits.

  6. You're going to have to splint it with a stick of some sort - like a popsicle stick.  Thoroughly clean the puncture wound first and apply an antibiotic ointment.  Then pad it liberally, apply the stick and wrap the whole thing up using a lot of padding.  Change it about every other day for the first week and re-doctor the puncture wound.  After that, change the splinted "arm" about once a week.  It will likely take about a month to six weeks for this to heal completely.  Make sure the wrapping on the leg is not too tight that it cuts off circulation.  Good luck.

  7. Do NOT keep him as a pet.

Wild rabbits are diseased and do not take well to being domesticated.

Take him to a vet and then a rehab clinic so he can live the way intended- outdoors.
