How do you fix a dvd player?

i have an apex brand dvd player with a standard on/off standby power button. you have to push that button first, then turn the power on by using the remote control. the remote control works fine. for some reason, the 3 disc tray does not move anymore. it seems stuck. does anyone know why it is broke and how to fix it?
