How do you fix a tear in the wall?

I had this board on the wall and it was held in place by an adhesive sticker. I wanted to take the board off, and so I pulled on it. When I did this, the surface of the wall came tearing away, stuck on the adhesive sticker. It was much like when you put tape on paper, and then try to take it off. It leaves this empty hole. Except, mines isn't really a hole. Its more like the surface was just ripped off.

Here is a picture of what the wall looks like now:

  1. home depot has a puddy you fill it in with it cost like 4 bucks, apply puddy and sand lightly;)

  2. buy a small tub of sheetrock compund and use a flat trowell to apply it to the damaged area. then re paint and you are all set.

  3. The picture isn't much help, but it shouldn't matter.  I presume that the wall is sheet rock, and what tore off was the paper at the exposed surface, and the gypsum underneath is basically sound.  This is fixable; you need sheetrock compound (usually called "mud"), and paper joint tape.  A wide sheetrock tool or broad putty knife will be needed.  Spread a thin layer of mud on the damaged area, and cover it with joint tape, pressing the tape into the mud.  Use the knife to get a smooth surface.  Then spread additional mud on top of the tape, smooth it, and feather it into the good part of the wall.  Let it dry, then sand it smooth, and a coat of primer and a finish coat of paint will finish the job.

  4. sand the area so no more fuzz on the wall, apply 2 coats of spackle and resand, paint after
