  1. You can cut the wire (unplug it first) strip the plastic coating back about a half inch on each side, twist the bare wires together and wrap each side separately with electrical tape. Be sure not to let the bare wires of one side touch the bare wires of the other side after wrapping. Make sure you don't mix up the sides. Sometimes there is a colored line on one side of the wire. If there isn't you can use some white-out or nail polish to mark one side of the wire BEFORE you cut it. If you have a transformer (large square box on end of wire) that plugs directly into the wall with a wire that goes to the piano then the wire coming out of the transformer is of a low voltage and you are not in danger of getting a shock or starting a fire. If you are careful and follow these instructions you should be successful. If it still doesn't work then it is possible that the transformer is blown and that the bare wire was not your problem in the first place and you will need to replace the transformer.

  2. Those are not 'strings', they're wires.

If this is a plug in wall adapter power supply, you should probably replace it. make sure when you use the new one you don't flex the wire too much as it will break.

Sometimes they can be repaired, but most people don't, won't or can't. I can usually fix one, but it's usually not very 'pretty'.

  3. Not that I suggest you try. Buy a new one.

  4. My first thought was "orthroscopic surgery", then I read the rest of the question..... can't help with a piano.
