  1. Firstly use mdf as it is more stable in a humid environment. Use Gripfill, but make sure you have the right 'gun' as they are longer than the DIY cartridges. Gripfill is best as some of the DIY adhesives are slow to 'grab' and are multipurpose therefor compromised. Why bother to make holes in your walls if you don't have to?

  2. The best way is to nail it down if it is a small piece than you can get away with glue if it gets hit with water it will get weak over time Good Luck

  3. no nails will be just the thing you need.

  4. I've just done all this the old fashion way screws and so on, and then had the vinyl laid.

Next time I intend to remove the skirting and level the wall surface ready to accept skirting, have the vinyl layed right up to the wall and glue plastic skilting to the wall and seal it to the vinyl. This way it's a bit like tanking, with no gap to collect dust and dirt.

    This kind of thing:-

  5. Most vinyl installers can do you a coved skirting - generally a requirement in commercial bathrooms. Much neater and far easier to clean. It finishes with a neat half round bead - and saves faffing about with a painted timber job.

  6. Hard as Nails will do the job, just

squirt it on then push it on too the wall.

  7. Go to a builders merchant and get yourself some Gripfill. Its like no more nails, only 10 times better. You will need a mastic gun to apply it.
