  1. That is real difficult because it doesn't have a belt. LOL.

You likely need a coupling that connects the motor to the gearcase.

When those fail you will find a little pile of rubber under the washer. They are not real difficult to replace but taking the cabinet off (do not try to go in from the back) and putting it back on can be tricky because you need to be careful about getting the tabs in the right place for the cabinet. It is tricky, but not at all difficult.

Sears did sell repair manuals. And I have seen some repair sites on the web. I wouldn't try to explain to you without pictures.

Work with your searches and see if you can find a repair manual on line.

It is a lot to ask somebody to train you to be a technician "step by step".

    Good Luck.

  2. Yes, I agree totally with THOR as the older KENMORE WASHERs you could get behind them to see the drive belt near the bottom and just thug on them to get the washer agitating but for several years manufacturers now have a coupler below the tub so when it breaks, (i) you need to go to appliance store to buy exact part and (ii) getting the washing machine apart which includes lifting the tub out is the easy part but (iii) getting the machine back together with tabs holding securely esp if you have to replace the coupler later (2nd time) well if not done correctly when you move it, your machine will almost start coming apart.

Hope the Above Info Gives You Insight on What to Expect and if machine is old and not matching, it might be cheaper to find used washing machine on local www.craigslist.com...
