How do you fix your oyster stew?

Also, whats good to sprinkle on top of the stew once made? (spice)

  1. I believe it's heavy cream, butter and oysters. We have it every year at christmas dinner but I never watched them actually make it!


  2. Add oyster kracers ,finley chopped green onyon. I make mine quick, hot milk, 1can oysters,drain brine,add too hot milk,dunn,top with butter

  3. Oyster Stew

    Ingredients:

    • 1-1/2 Pints oysters with liquor

    • 2 Cups heavy cream

    • 4 tbsp Butter

    • 1 Cup milk

    • Ground cayenne pepper to taste

    • Salt and pepper to taste

    • Chopped fresh parsley

    Procedure:

    Take 4 bowls with a tbsp of butter in each.

    Heat these bowls and keep hot.

    Heat oyster liquor, milk and cream to the boiling point.

    Add oysters to the mixture and bring to boil once again.

    Add salt, pepper and cayenne.

    Pour into bowls and garnish with chopped parsley.



    Oyster Stew

    Instructions

    1 pint oysters

    1 medium onion

    2 stalks celery

    3 tbsp. vegetable shorting

    1 quart milk

    1 can cream of mushroom soup

    1 tsp. salt

    1/2 tsp. paprika

    1 tsp. parsley

    Procedure:

    Remove the oysters from their shells. Check each oyster for small shell pieces.

    Chop the onion and celery into small cubes.

    Melt vegetable shortening in a sauce pan over high heat.

    Reduce the heat to medium. Add the oysters and their juices to the melted shortening. Stir the contents while adding the onion and celery.

    Cook until the edges of the oysters began to curl up. This usually takes about 3 minutes.

    Add the milk, salt and cream of mushroom soup to the oysters. Stir occasionally while continuing to cook over medium heat.

    Bring the stew to a boil.

    Remove from heat and pour into soup bowls.

    Sprinkle parsley and paprika on the top.

    1 1/2 sticks of butter

    1 Gallon Whole Milk

    Quickly cook oysters with butter then lower heat and add milk until simmering then serve
