On approach shots, I can flatten my forehand where they can't get it but I want to learn how to flatten my backhand. Whenever I try, it just flies on me. Is there a certain grip that can help me?

  1. I sounds more like you bending your elbows too much rather than your grip. You might try, first of all, hitting the ball back with your elbows as straight as possible. This will keep your backhand straighter. You sound like you really want to put a lot more zip on the ball. I take it you have your foot work down. You know, for backhands,if you are right handed, the right foot needs to be in front,vice-versa if you are left-handed. I use to teach tennis so I know a little bit about it. About the grip, use the one that feels most comfortable for you.Hope this helps you. your friend. yawnclifford@yahoo.com
