  1. Being able to float naturally is to do with the weight of the water displaced by the body being heavier than the the weight of the body.

If you really mean float then a big lung full of air should help keep you on the surface. If you mean stay at the surface with your head out of water then you can 'tread' water. This is where you use your hands and legs to 'propel' yourself in an upright position in the water. Keep your hands flat under the water and make smallish figure of eight movements with them - this forces water downwards and you up. At the same time do a breaststroke style kick with your legs, which has the same effect.

  2. Wear a rubber ring!

  3. It's harder for a skinny person to float because of body density.  Fat is less dense, and therefore more buoyant (floaty) than muscle and bone, so it's easier for a fat person to float.

A skinny person can increase their buoyancy by keeping as much air as possible in your lungs.  It also helps to move a little, gently sculling your hands back and forth.

Incidentally, buoyancy (ability to float) is totally unrelated to weight. An aircraft carrier floats and so does a rubber ducky.

  4. make sure you breathe in,cause its your lungs that will keep you afloat

weight has nothing to do with it, infact it should be easier to float if your skinny, less mass pulling you down

  5. What I learned in my swimming lessons when I was a child: Anyone can float.

  6. Weight really isn't an issue when it comes to being able to float. I'm sure it's more difficult if you are overweight, but really that has nothing to do with it. Start with someone gently holding under your back to get your started, just incase. Then gradually let there arms go away. I suggest trying to tighten the muscels in your butt, that helped me when I was first learning. Hope this helps. ♥
